Once or twice or year, I'm lucky enough to take war veterans fishing. These volunteers have sacrificed so much for us. It's the best part of my job meeting and fishing with these dedicated men and women. Thank you for your service.

The skiing around Aspen has been sketchy, but the fishing is great. Gianetti Springs (Carbondale) and the lower Roaring Fork is really producing. Call me if you are interested in a destination trip to this beautiful Colorado valley. There are many economical lodging options including right on the Fork.

Why not do both? The Big T is really fishing well right now. The upper canyon remains open for the most part. Most frequent takes are on eggs (Alaskan Style) and #22 UV Midge and smaller. In the canyon, there have been hits on Jujubaetis (#22) and believe or not #18-#20 Micromays. If your not fishing, stop by the new location for Front Range Anglers, 2344 Pearl Street. The new shop is great and there are daily specials (checkout their Facebook page.)

3. Guided Trip -- Yep, still happening, just dress in a lot of layers and watch'em take those tiny flies in gin clear water.

Sylvan Dale Ranch is pretty special place. And this time of year, it offers a variety of fish and waters. Mother Lake has cooled down to the low 40s and last Wednesday the hogs were taking large (#2-#6) fall colored streamers like Orange Blossom Special, Yellow Bellaches, rust colored Meat Whistles, and Autumn Splendors. The river is also holding a good level. It's a great time of year to book a trip to SDR. This 29 incher was caught at Mother Lake on a #2 Orange Blossom Special.

Water levels looked to be finally settling and the trout are looking up. It's nice to return to Dry/Dropper rigs. In Upper Boulder Creek, large Royal PMX and a large Prince Nymph. In the Upper Thompson, small nymphs suspended. And in the canyon, hit that that early Caddis stuff then switch to Pandemics and Jujubaetis, Sparkle Wing RS2, etc. Enjoy.
