This class covers al the basic information and techniques you need to get out on the river and catch fish:

Rigging
Fly patterns
Basic entomology
Casting
Trout Handling
River etiquette
Trout Habitat

It is a hands-on class with both group and individual instruction. Past participants have said the class is very informative and also lots of fun. Reference materials and other valuable resources are provided so that the students can continue to learn the art of Fly Fishing. Although the class is designed for beginners, many experienced anglers have taken it to brush-up on their techniques or fill in gaps in their knowledge.

CLASS FORMAT:
The class is approximately four hours long and divided up into two parts:

Part I (approximate 2 hours)

Insect entomolgy including identification, life cycle, and behavior
Knots and Rigging including multi-fly wet and dry rigs

Part II (approximately 1.5 hours)

Casting
Simulated drifting
Simulated landing
River etiquette
Trout habitat


INSTRUCTOR:
Wallace Westfeldt is the instructor of this class. Wallace has been fly fishing in Colorado for over 40 years and is a Boulder native. This is his seventh year as a guide and instructor. His clients and students consistently enjoy his enthusiasm and sense of humour.

WHAT TO BRING
Rod, reels, and other materials will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own equipment for the casting lessons. The second session is held outside, so dress for the current weather.

SCHEDULE AND PRICING
Classes are held on Sunday 9am-1pm every two weeks and the cost is $80/person. For winter or custom scheduling call Wallace at 303 601-1902. Class size is limited to six.
